Georgia Closing Airspace Over Abastumani ‘Ivanishvili Whim’, Sources Tell RFE/RL

    civil.ge/archives/730573

On April 16, Georgia is to close airspace over the area of Abastumani, a health resort in the country’s south, with officials citing the need to ensure clear skies above the local astrophysical observatory. However, sources told Radio Free Europe/Radio…

This move by Bidzina Ivanishvili with declaration of no-fly zone gives me some hint: if you want to fully unmask this putin pet faster, you should rally not on famous Rustaveli avenue or even near headquarters of his “Georgian Dream” pet party. The most sensitive place for Ivanishvili now is where he imposed so hardcore security measures, going so far up to declaring no-fly zone. So opposition should rally in Abastumani where his family residence is.

I guess this kind of self-exposure via excess security is common among dictators and billionaires alike.

The illustration picked as reminder that the Death does not care about your security measures. it even does not care whether you have enemies who ready to give you ticket for Kobzon concert. It simply comes in its own time no matter what you do.

GD Adopts Package Restricting Grants, Political Activity, Lobbying, Government Non-Recognition

    civil.ge/archives/723348

The Georgian Dream-led disputed parliament has adopted in the final hearing a restrictive package that imposes additional curbs on receiving foreign funding, criminalizes “external lobbying,” restricts political activities, imposes limits on businesses,…

The amendments to grants law resemble Soviet restrictions for any communication with foreigners (aka запрет на общение с иностранцами).

The amendments restricting any political activity for business entities are so broad that even employee of any company would dare to say some opposition opinion online, it would be possible to fine the company, even GD denies that.

The amendments declaring extremism forbids spreading any opinion like that: the current GD gang regime done the state capture in 2012 via Kremlin-spread disinformation, and therefore their rule is not legitimate. The extremism clause is so vague that even “activity aimed at creation of perception of Georgia authorities as illegitimate” and all that vague stuff, any discussion about politics will become soon illegal in Georgia.

Simply speaking, people will be allowed only to discuss only something politically innocent such as cats, weather, flowers (except roses!) and their favorite food (but without mentioning skyrocketing food prices!).

I doubt the GD would spend time and resources on total control of anyone speech or something like that, similar to Russian or Chinese censorship for internet right away – usually creating atmosphere of fear via precise imprisonment of few most active people works for some time. But later “Georgian Dream” terrorists gang can decide they don’t feel legitimate enough, and introduce even more legal bullshit whose sole purpose is to send more innocent people behind the bars.

  • Thought about Georgian NBG decision

    Thought about Georgian NBG decision

The National Bank of Georgia has announced it has gained access to one of the world’s largest and most important financial markets — China’s Interbank Bond Market (CIBM). Georgia joins a limited group of central banks permitted to operate in the market.

There is single reason for such “diversification” – to prepare country for existence under sanctions a-la Iran, with complete detachment from the US and EU finances, and some tricks like crypto and yuan as workarounds.

But to GD I can remind that if you don’t follow orders from Mordor and return to path of EU membership, you don’t need to use this financial workarounds and financial brainf*ckery.

  • Today bumped into unexpected quote

    Today bumped into unexpected quote

According to Wikiquote Mikhail Gorbachev said this:

I believe in the cosmos. All of us are linked to the cosmos. Look at the sun. If there is no sun, then we cannot exist. So nature is my god. To me, nature is sacred. Trees are my temples and forests are my cathedrals.

This is from: “Nature Is My God” – interview with Fred Matser in Resurgence No. 184 (September-October 1997)

But we must not be surprised and stay cautious before praising him for saying these words.

Because as a skilled member of Commmunist Party of Soviet Union, the single party allowed there most of USSR existence, Gorbachev have to get a big experience on saying not what he thinks, otherwise he would not become member of CPSU, and even its Secretary General, “top boss”.

So, even if Gorbachev said this, it does not mean he believed in this.

Tbilisi 1989. Baku 1990. Vilnius 1991. There are other moments of USSR collapse process when Gorbachev approved usage of brutal force against peaceful demonstrations or at least did not explicitly forbid it, what was enough to happen.

So either these words from quote have been said as part of empty PR trick, or he has quite twisted understanding of how Nature exists and “works”. The latter is quite possible, as for dictators it is common to see world as something as endless struggle, non-stop brutal violence and permanent fight for survival and nothing else.

Either you, either them. “Zero-sum game”. And all that bloody crap. Yes, that “You should strike first” (Бить надо первым) by said by putin, also from this direction of thought.

It is impossible to completely deny such component of nature, but making it so prominent of your worldview it ends up with multiple bloodbaths over and over – this eliminate the spirit and meaning of that quote being discussed.

Yes, Gorbachev said that trees are his temple. But to which god(s) Gorbachev prayed there? To some bloodthirsty one(s), for sure.
